A FAMILY history

The story of Poggiotondo began in 1968 when Carlo Antonini, a teacher with a passion for agriculture and beekeeping, purchased the estate, in Cerreto Guidi which historically belonged to the Conti Guidi – an ancient noble family that owned lands in Tuscany and Emilia-Romagna.
This family also gave its name to the village of Cerreto Guidi in the Middle Ages.

Cerreto Guidi, situated along the historic Via Francigena, was once a destination for pilgrims.
In the heart of the village, Cosimo I de’ Medici, of the renowned Florentine Medici family, built the magnificent Villa Medicea, which was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2013.
Today, Cerreto Guidi remains an authentic gem in the heart of Tuscany, located near Pisa, Lucca, and Siena, just 40 km from the Tyrrenian Sea.
